Some new work from the last week. Just noticed the perspective mistake on the second, so I will have to go back and fix that before I go into photoshop.

Lunchtime Update

Busy designing a character today. I cranked out a pose in about 2 minutes after bashing my head against a wall for two hours yesterday. Figured I'd use the extra time to do some face studies and get the details right. :)

Probably going for the leftmost one. After lunch is going to be fun, as I get to draw some cool mutations / disfigurements and a huge flamin' arm.

Man, I love drawing.

Ship Designs! Part 1 - The Boring Ones

Not much to say about this except meh. I like the battering ram one. Need to think more on this. Having a hard time drawing these. It's like learning to do it over and over again.

Deep Sea Walker

Getting into FZD requires a portfolio of ideas. So I figured I might as well get started.

I haven't had as much drawing my own designs since I was 12. That sounds strange, coming from a wannabe concept artist; but drawing from imagination has always been a process of frustration for me because I could never quite get anything on paper that looked anywhere near what I want to do.

These are terrible drawings when I look at them. Perspective is off all overthe place; line quality bad, the paper isn't even cleaned up. But I can't hate them too much; because it's already big step forward for me. :)

So I took a hiatus from university for two weeks to go to Singapore. I'm sure that's not what a sane student would do in their final semester of uni; but I rather needed it and it gave me the chance to put some things in perspective.

It was strange coming back to the country after ten years away. Rapid expansion is an understatement when it comes to Singapore. Still, with two weeks there, we managed to do all the things we did when we still lived there - like eat rotti pratta at local market stalls, and even a suprise visit to our former house - and the touristy stuff, like having a f(rustating)un time drawing white tigers at the Mandai Zoo; and oggling of the side of Marina Bay Sands.

The highlight of the trip was visiting the Feng Zhu School of Design. The admin staff gave me a brief tour of the facilities, how the school teaches, and the progress the students make. There simply no other option than to go there, no matter how long it takes.

Anyways, two sketches from Singapore - Marina Bay Sands and Clarke Quay. These sketches are rather close to my heart; as I can't remember the last time I had so much fun drawing something. All my worries about not being able to concentrate; focus, and learn sort of dropped away while I was sweating under the 35 degree sun. Not the best drawings ever; but the memories will remain.
